IoE Reseach Centre on
ExtraTerrestrial Manufacturing (ExTeM)
Make in Space for Space | Make in Space for Earth
An IoE Research Initiative of IIT Madras
About ExTeM: The human endeavor to explore space like never before including creating settlements in far away locations, will require extensive time to be spent on-board a space craft just to reach there. In addition, the lure of micro-gravity and the advantages it offers to control, and tailor material structures cannot be ignored. The near future will require technologies that will enable manufacturing things in space - for use in space and, for bringing back to use on the earth.
INDIA'S FIRST MICROGRAVITY conference to be held at IITM from 1st - 6th December 2024 (https://web.iitm.ac.in/AMS2024/);
💥Free registration for Indian students and Professionals with ISOSU Membership (https://www.isosu.org/)💥

About
We are a group of researchers at IIT Madras teaming up to focus our skill sets to develop technologies for manufacturing things in space for space use and for use back in earth.
Technologies
We are developing a broad range of manufacturing technologies from concrete to polymer based medical diagnostic kits to single crystals and foams in micro-gravity environments.
